Write the Vision Down…

“Write the vision down…the vision awaits its time…if it seems slow, wait for it. It will surely come, it will not delay” These words of Habakkuk from the Sunday liturgy are words of hope for the people of South Sudan as they struggle to cling to the vision of July 9, 2011, Independence Day.

Just as the apostles ask, “Lord, increase our faith,” so too, the people of South Sudan cry out to God in their agony. Paul urges the disciple, Timothy, to “fan into flame the gift of God that is within you.”

Christians gathered in community do this for each other. Christians gathered around the world praying for peace in South Sudan nurture Abyei Woman at Mass in South Sudanhope among the people.  These words of hope and encouragement are given today when they are most needed.

“If today you hear God’s word, harden not your hearts.”
