On July 9, 2019, South Sudan will celebrate eight years since gaining independence from Sudan. The renewed peace effort needs the support of the power of prayer from people around the world. Friends in Solidarity has prepared a prayer resource, available in English, Spanish, and French. Prayer may be the most important intervention we can make for the people of South Sudan at this time.
As you read this message, Solidarity members in South Sudan (priests, brothers, sisters and lay volunteers) are gathering for their annual assembly at the Good Shepherd Peace Center near Juba. This is a time to renew friendships and share the mission and vision of Solidarity with South Sudan. A 10-year evaluation of the organization and its goals has been conducted which will set the stage for planning for the future. Please keep all those gathered in your prayers.
We continue to seek volunteers for the ministry in South Sudan as well as funding to support the work. For more information, contact Sister Joan Mumaw, IHM at jmumaw.solidarity@gmail.com.
